Single-phase packaged transformer substations KTPOS with capacities of 1.25, 2.5, 4, and 10 kVA, HV voltage of 6 or 10 kV, and LV voltage of 0.23 kV are a vital component of power supply systems, designed for efficient electrical energy distribution. These substations enable the reception, conversion, and distribution of single-phase alternating current at 50 Hz, transforming high voltage into low voltage, making it suitable for end consumers. KTPOS are developed for use in power supply schemes for railway electrical networks and for powering small facilities, and they are suitable for operation in temperate climates (from -45°C to +40°C).
Structural Features
KTPOS are designed for ease of installation and operation, as well as to ensure reliable power supply. The design integrates the necessary high-voltage and low-voltage equipment into a single complex.
- The high-voltage input of the substation is an overhead type, simplifying connection to existing overhead power lines.
- Outgoing line connections on the low-voltage side are cable-type, ensuring safe and compact consumer connections.
- The KTPOS package includes a high-voltage disconnector, high-voltage fuses, and surge arresters for protection against overvoltages and short circuits.
- The main structural element is the power transformer, which performs voltage level conversion.
- On the low-voltage side, there is an LV switchgear (LVSG) cabinet, where automatic circuit breakers are installed to protect outgoing lines.
- The number and rated current of automatic circuit breakers are determined by the technical specifications of the particular model and can be modified in agreement with the customer.

Advantages of Using KTPOS Substations
The use of single-phase packaged transformer substations KTPOS offers a number of significant advantages, especially for specific applications where efficient and reliable power supply to single-phase consumers is required. Their design features and configuration ensure ease of operation and safety.
- Optimal solution for single-phase consumers: KTPOS are specifically designed for single-phase networks, making them a more cost-effective and simpler solution compared to three-phase substations when three-phase power is not needed or unavailable.
- Compactness and ease of installation: Thanks to their size and design with overhead high-voltage input and cable outputs, KTPOS are easy to install, including on poles, which saves space.
- Reliability and safety: The inclusion of high-voltage fuses, surge arresters, and automatic circuit breakers on the low-voltage side provides protection for equipment and consumers from overloads, short circuits, and atmospheric overvoltages, enhancing the overall reliability of the power supply system.
- Complete factory readiness: KTPOS are supplied as assembled units or individual functional blocks with pre-installed equipment, which accelerates and simplifies the installation process at the operating site.
- Flexible configuration: The ability to choose power and voltage, as well as to agree with the customer on the rated currents of protective devices on the outgoing lines, allows adapting the substation to specific needs.
- Efficiency: The use of modern transformers and protective equipment contributes to the efficient conversion and distribution of electrical energy.
Areas of Application
Single-phase packaged transformer substations KTPOS have clearly defined areas of application where their technical characteristics and structural features are most optimal and effective. They are a reliable solution for providing power to facilities requiring single-phase supply.
- Railway electrical networks: KTPOS are widely used in power supply schemes for railway infrastructure, providing power for signaling, lighting, communications, and other single-phase consumers along railway tracks.
- Power supply for small facilities: These substations are ideal for powering small consumers, such as private homes, summer cottage cooperatives, small farms, small commercial or residential facilities located primarily in rural areas or on the outskirts.
Compliance with Standards
The safety and reliability of electrical equipment are priorities, which is why KTPOS packaged transformer substations are manufactured and operated in accordance with current state standards and regulatory documents of Ukraine. This guarantees the product’s compliance with established quality, safety, and technical requirements.
- KTPOS are manufactured according to the manufacturer’s technical specifications, which is reflected in their marking, for example, TU U 31.2-00213440-014-2005.
- The production and operation of KTPOS are regulated by relevant DSTU (State Standards of Ukraine) concerning packaged transformer substations and electrical equipment in general.
- An important regulatory document governing the requirements for electrical installations is the Electrical Installation Code (PUE), which must be met by both the substation’s design and the rules for its installation and connection.
- Standards related to individual components of the substation, such as transformers, switching devices, protective devices, grounding requirements, etc., are also applied.
