Pole-mounted packaged transformer substations (KTPS and KTPS2) are a crucial element of modern power supply systems, designed for efficient and reliable electricity distribution. They perform the key function of converting high voltage from power lines to a safe voltage for end-consumers. These substations are ideally suited for use in various conditions, ensuring stable power supply for both domestic needs and small industrial facilities. KTPS and KTPS2 are designed to receive electrical energy from a three-phase alternating current at an industrial frequency of 10(6) kV, convert it to 380/220 V, and then supply power to consumers of various categories. KTPS are designed for single-pole installation, while KTPS2 are for double-pole installation. Normal operation of the substations is ensured in areas with a temperate climate.

Structural Features
KTPS and KTPS2 are designed to meet requirements for reliability and ease of installation on standard power line poles. Their construction ensures safe operation and easy access for maintenance, while occupying minimal space. The well-thought-out arrangement of substation elements on the pole or poles promotes efficient use of space and simplifies connection to existing networks.
- Structurally, the substations are designed for installation on reinforced concrete poles for overhead power lines of types SV 105, SK 105, and other types.
- KTPS is installed on a single pole, while KTPS2 is installed on two poles. Substations with capacities from 160 to 400 kV·A inclusive must be installed on two poles.
- The main equipment: high-voltage device (UHV), power transformer, and low-voltage switchgear (LVSG), are mounted on metal structures reinforced on the pole(s).
- The UHV consists of two frames, on which high-voltage equipment such as pin insulators, surge arresters, and high-voltage fuses for protecting the power transformer are placed.
- The transformer is installed on a metal bracket (for KTPS) or on a frame (for KTPS2). The installation height of the transformer complies with the requirements of the Electrical Installation Code (PUЕ) to ensure a safe distance to live parts.
- The LVSG cabinet is made of galvanized iron and is installed on a metal bracket at a height convenient for servicing from the ground or using scaffolding.
- KTPS2 includes a ladder interlock for climbing to the service platform, which prevents access when the high-voltage line disconnector is energized, providing additional safety.
- The 10(6) kV voltage connection is made from the power line pole, and the 0.4 kV voltage from the power transformer to the LVSG is routed by insulated wire in a protective casing. 0.4 kV cables enter the LVSG through sealed entries.
