Power oil-filled step-down three-phase double-winding transformers of TM type with capacities from 10 to 6300 kV∙A and voltage up to 35 kV are general-purpose equipment used in various sectors of the national economy. They are designed for indoor and outdoor installation and are characterized by reliability and efficiency. The choice of transformer depends on the voltage, installation location, and operating conditions.

Design Features

TM transformers have a number of design solutions aimed at ensuring their efficient and reliable operation:

• TM type transformer tanks are rectangular in shape. Transformers are manufactured with corrugated tanks.
• On the tank lid, there is a tap (plug) for topping up oil, at the bottom of the tank there is a plug for draining oil, a tap (plug) for taking an oil sample, and a grounding bolt.
• The active part consists of windings, a high-voltage switch, and a magnetic core, which is made of high-quality electrical steel. The steel is cut on a «GEORG», «LAE» line, and the magnetic core is stacked according to the «Step-Lap» scheme.
• HV and LV bushings are located on the lid. HV and LV bushings are for outdoor installation, removable, with porcelain insulators.
• For current 1000 A and above, a special contact clamp with a lug is attached to the upper part of the current-carrying rod, which allows connecting a flat busbar.
• The oil conservator ensures the presence of oil at all operating modes of the transformer and fluctuations in ambient temperature.
• A thermometer is installed on the transformer lid for measuring the temperature of the upper oil layers in the tank.

Advantages of Using TM Transformers

TM type transformers have a number of advantages that make them attractive for use in various industries.

• TM type transformers have a wide range of capacities – from 10 to 2500 kV-A.
• It is possible to manufacture transformer windings from both aluminum and copper.
• Transformers are equipped with an oil conservator to ensure the presence of oil at various operating modes and fluctuations in ambient temperature.
• To protect the oil from moisture ingress from the air entering the transformer during operation, an air dehumidifier is installed on the oil conservator.
• For ease of moving high-capacity transformers (from 160 to 2500 kV-A), wheels are installed.
