Dry transformers of TSZNG type

Three-phase dry-type power transformers of the TS(Z)N series, manufactured by LLC “UKRELECTROAPARAT”, are equipped with windings made of “NOMEX” insulated conductors of thermal resistance class “H” (180°C). These are two-winding general-purpose transformers with capacities ranging from 250 to 1600 kV·A and voltages up to 10 kV. They are used in various sectors of the national economy and industry for converting electrical energy in three-phase AC power grids with a frequency of 50 Hz. A key feature of these transformers is their installation in industrial premises and public buildings where there are increased requirements for fire safety, explosion protection, and environmental friendliness.

Structural Features

The design of TS(Z)N series transformers is developed considering requirements for reliability, safety, and ease of operation. The use of modern materials and technologies ensures high operational characteristics of the products.

  • Transformers consist of a magnetic core, windings (placed on the magnetic core), tap changers, bushings, LV and HV busbars, and a protective casing.
  • The magnetic core is manufactured from high-quality electrical steel. Special cutting and “Step-Lap” stacking of the magnetic core are used, and assembly is performed with bandages, tie rods, and special adhesives, ensuring low no-load losses and noise levels. Organosilicon paints are used for corrosion protection.
  • LV (low voltage) windings are made of wire or strip with “NOMEX” insulation; the material is copper or aluminum. HV (high voltage) windings are made of copper wire with “NOMEX” insulation. Windings are impregnated with organosilicon varnishes and baked according to special temperature programs for resistance to short-circuit currents.
  • Transformers can be manufactured with IP00, IP21, or IP31 protection ratings. The protective casing ensures personnel protection against electric shock, and access for maintenance is provided through removable panels.

Advantages of Using TSZN Substations

The use of TS(Z)N series dry-type transformers offers a number of significant advantages, particularly important for facilities where safety, reliability, and environmental friendliness are priorities.

  • High Level of Fire Safety: Thanks to dry insulation and the absence of oil, these transformers significantly reduce the risk of fires and explosions compared to oil-filled counterparts.
  • Environmental Safety: The absence of transformer oil prevents its leakage, making these transformers more environmentally friendly.
  • Suitable for Installation in Premises with Enhanced Requirements: Ideally suited for installation in industrial premises and public buildings where increased fire safety, explosion protection, and environmental cleanliness are required.
  • Reliability and Durability: The use of high-quality materials, “H” class (180°C) insulation, and special manufacturing technologies, such as winding impregnation with varnishes, ensures a long service life and resistance to loads, including short-circuit currents.
  • Short-Term Overload Capability: Transformers have the ability to withstand short-term overloads within permissible limits, which can be beneficial in certain operating modes.
  • Reduced Operating Costs: Dry-type transformers generally require less maintenance compared to oil-filled ones.
